Cordis papers, 1864-1903.

Correspondence, reports and legal documents from Cordis' revenue collection and legal work, and his own investments. Includes Deputy Collector'sreports from Prescott, Yuma, and Tucson about tobacco, cigars, breweries, and distilleries in their areas. The Deputy Collectors were G.W. Mauk, R.J. Butler, W.H. Seamans, and George Tyng. Documents are present concerning a lawsuit between Richard McCormick, Loren S. Jenks, and Henry W. Fleury, about the sale of McCormick's lots in Prescott. The documents include certificates of land for the Prescott town lots, 1864, and letters from McCormick to Cordis about the issue. There is also correspondence from O.J. Thornton of the South Gila Canal Company, Chrystoval, Ariz., 1892-1895, about the company which Cordis apparently invested in. He also invested with W.B. Benson in the incorporation into one stock company of the Crittenden, Empire, Tully and Ochoa, and Paige ranches along with N.R. Vail, W.L. Vail, and Charles Silent. There is also a copy of the divorce complaint by Jennie Safford against Anson K. Safford, 1872, and documents relating to Cordis acting as assignee for George Rayfield regarding the San Xavier Hotel.
